CULTURAL AWARENESS
‘Living in Harmony’
The ‘Living in Harmony’ project is funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). The project is taking place throughout 2008 and is designed to bring 4 schools together, 2 with a monoculture population and 2 with a higher level of students from a refugee background. Through dialogue and shared activities the aim is to help break down barriers, and to increase understanding between both groups.
On Harmony Day the students met each other, played games, watched a performance and ate Afghan and Sudanese food. The Lieutenant-Governor and the Minister Assisting the Minister for Multicultural Affairs launched the project.
‘Side by Side’ Conference
The ‘Side by Side’ Conference, for service providers working with Muslim communities was held on 30 April, 2008 at the Adelaide Festival Centre Banquet Room.
